Balkrishna is the infant name of Lord Krishna, the Cowherd Boy who enchanted the Cowherd Maidens (Gopinis) with the divine sound of his flute. Krishna is most popularly worshipped as the eighth avatar of the god Vishnu- god of compassion, tenderness, and love in Hinduism. The anecdotes and narratives of Krishna’s life are generally titled as Krishna Leela. He is a central character in the Mahabharata, the Bhagavata Purana, and the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna’s life teaches us that to attain Self-realization, we should be free from all attachments while still maintaining loving relationships and upholding our family responsibilities in order.
